Video game launch parties aren't known for being cool. In fact, more often than not, enlisting a gang of B-listers to show up and show off a new video game doesn't stand the test of time.
And though there was no big failure during the NBA 2K14 launch, other parties have not been as lucky.

We know it feels like the past never happened. That the year 2014 was made up, dreamt, or somehow fabricated. What proof do we have? Well, besides our copies of NBA 2k14, and these pictures from the launch party, not much. But ask yourself this, how it is possible to feel nostalgic for something that happened only seven years ago? -

The event took place at the Greystone Manor in West Hollywood and according to BallisLife, featured, "a bunch of hot women". Maybe it's just me, but these archived pictures of celebs walking the red carpet for a video game release seem like relics from a time long past. -

Here we see Audrina Patridge from the MTV show, 'The Hills' getting her chance to play the new NBA 2K14. At the risk of sounding like a hater, we acknowledge the chance she is a real gamer, whatever that is, but we know it's merely a press event. -

In all the pictures we sourced we couldn't find LeBron anywhere, even though he's the guy on the cover. Now NBA 2K14 might be a unique case, as some of the stars in attendance are featured in the game, and sports are naturally "celebrity focused' enterprises, the whole thing just feels so fake. -

I've never been to a game release party, so I can't say first hand, but from the pictures, it's obvious video game release parties still have a long way to go before people see them as anything but cringe-worthy. -
